Presidential Scholarship for 2013 - Open for Freshman 2013!

In honor of his Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI the College of Saint Mary Magdalen annually awards one Four-Year, Full Tuition Scholarship to a incoming freshmen who has set themselves apart from their incoming classmates by achieving and 1800 on the SAT or 26 on the ACT, and have completed their application by February 15th .  Eligible incoming freshmen whom wish to apply for the scholarship must submit a 7-10 page essay in response to one of Pope Benedict XVI’s encyclicals.  All submissions must be postmarked no later than 15 February. 

Once all essays are received, the essays are copied and scrubbed of any names so that each essay is presented as an anonymous entry.  Then each essay is reviewed in full by a panel of faculty outside of admissions, who choose the winning entry.  The winning student is notified by the director of admissions.  Once a student is offered the scholarship they must commit themselves to the College’s Honor Program, and must maintain a 3.4 GPA.  Be advised that after the submission deadline has been reached the review process can take up to two weeks to complete.
